Ambient Light Rejection Goes Electric

Da-Lite is adding electric options for its Parallax ambient light-rejecting surface technology, bringing new, professional-quality possibilities to the Pro AV environment.

Tensioned Contour and Tensioned Advantage are now available with the Parallax 0.8 surface. Designed for ceiling-recessed installation, the Tensioned Advantage comes with the trim already in place for a polished look and easy install. The Tensioned Contour can be ceiling or wall-mounted and makes a seamless addition to any room.

Architects often specify electric screens in spaces with high levels of ambient light. These new options from Da-Lite allow AV professionals to provide quality projection performance when needed in non-projection friendly environments, and to hide the screen when not in use to maintain the aesthetics of the room design.

“That’s the great thing about these new options. You may not have the wall space, but you have a ceiling,” said Chelsey Green, Associate Product Manager. “You can leave the lights on and windows open and that high-end aesthetic will still be possible.”

Parallax features a micro-layered optical lens system that rejects light. This technology mimics the look of a television, but without the glare from windows or lighting fixtures.

Each layer of Parallax plays a role in preserving the image that is reflected back to the viewer in high ambient light environments. Some layers absorb light while one special layer is shaped like a microscopic saw-tooth that blocks light from above resulting in the preservation of high-contrast, bright images in brightly lit environments. With extremely wide viewing angles, no speckle and no glare, the surface is ideal for applications in Pro AV.

Because of the nature of the Parallax material, a micro-layered, high-grade plastic lens system, the surface will look visibly different when compared to other Da-Lite tensioned screens with vinyl surfaces. While it may have slight variations in appearance, the Parallax surface is optically flat and performs on the same level as 4K-ready HD Progressive surfaces when under projection.

Tensioned Parallax surfaces will come with 2” black drop as standard with the ability to customize up to 36” of black drop for taller rooms. Fabric and roller only special replacements are available to order to upgrade into existing housing.
