The Rørvik Safety Center, in Norway, provides training to shipmasters and personnel of fishing vessels. To offer them the most realistic training experience possible, the center recently upgraded its MarinSim simulator. At the heart of the installation is a large spherical screen. Here, our F22 WUXGA projectors display high-precision, lifelike images of nautical routes and waters.
Technically challenging? Barco’s F22 is up to it
Simulator developer Transas Marine International and project:syntropy, which equipped the simulator with the spherical screen, have been using Barco equipment for many years. “Barco’s compact F22 projector is ideal for technically challenging and demanding applications like this set-up,” said Malin Hallbeck, key account manager at project:syntropy. To ensure a perfectly matched projection geometry, excellent color reproduction and uniform picture quality, project:syntropy further installed a camera-based auto-calibration solution from domeprojection.com
Lifelike digital experience
“Never before has the ship bridge appeared sharper than this! The combination of the spherical screen and Barco projectors provides a lifelike digital experience,” said Helge Hestø Andersen, CEO at the Rørvik Safety Center. Related press releases:
